Die Wirkung der Akupunktur ist wissenschaftlich bewiesen und wird im Sport eingesetzt

Zählt die Akupunktur auch heute noch zu den eher belächelten Therapien, bei der man an Nadelkissen und Voodoo-Puppen denkt? Vor 20 Jahren wäre die Antwort noch ein klares Ja gewesen. Aber die Akupunktur ist keine Glaubensfrage mehr, sondern wissenschaftlich in ihrer Wirksamkeit bewiesen. Daher erfreut sich die Akupunktur heute einer großen Akzeptanz bei vielen Medizinern und Patienten. Sie wird inzwischen über alle medizinischen Fachbereiche hinaus zum therapeutischen Einsatz gebracht, so auch bei der Behandlung von Sportlern – vor allem zur Schmerzbekämpfung als auch zur Unterstützung für einen schnelleren und wirkungsvolleren Muskelaufbau und zur verbesserten Koordination.

Die Akupunktur ist eine Jahrtausende alte chinesische Heilmethode, heute aber aktueller denn je. Deshalb wurde von den Kassen eine großangelegte Studie an über 200.000 Patienten in Auftrag gegeben. Nach Veröffentlichung der Ergebnisse zeigt sich die Akupunktur als hochwirksame Schmerztherapie, nachweislich bei Rücken-, Kopf- und Arthroseschmerzen. Zudem besinnt man sich nach starkem Spezialisierungsdrang in unserer “westlichen” Medizin in vielen Bereichen wieder auf ganzheitliche Therapieformen, zu denen die Akupunktur gehört.

Die Akupunktur behandelt Krankheit und krankheitsbedingte Störungen über Beeinflussung und Regulierung des sogenannten Qi-Flusses. Qi benennt unsere Lebenskraft, unsere Lebensenergie, die in den Leitbahnen, den Meridianen durch den Körper strömt. Diese Meridiane sind gewissen Organsystemen und deren Funktionen zugeordnet. Durch eine Störung dieser Lebenskraft kommt es zu Krankheits- und Schmerzzuständen. Mit den Akupunkturnadeln kann an bestimmten definierten Punkten (Akupunkturpunkte) auf das Qi und somit auf die Organsystemstörung und die Beschwerden Einfluss genommen werden. Inzwischen lässt sich die Wirksamkeit der Akupunktur auch durch wissenschaftliche Studien nachweisen. Über eine direkte Wirkung auf schmerzleitende Nervenbahnen sowie einer messbaren Veränderung von körpereigenen Hormonen ist eine effektive Schmerztherapie durch die Akupunktur bewiesen. Ebenso lassen sich eine muskelentspannende sowie eine allgemein entspannende und durchblutungsfördernde Wirkung nachweisen.

Zum Einsatz kommen verschiedene Formen der Akupunktur: die Ohr-, Schädel- und Körperakupunktur sowie die Triggerpunktakupunktur zur effektiven Muskelentspannung, mit oder ohne Wärmebehandlung (Moxibustion).

Die Therapie wird normalerweise zwei- bis dreimal wöchentlich in einer 20-minütigen Sitzung durchgeführt. Verwendet werden 5 bis 15 Einmalakupunkturnadeln. Insgesamt sind zwischen zwei und zehn Behandlungssitzungen notwendig, je nach Akutzustand und Aufwendigkeit der Beschwerden.

Die Akupunktur ermöglicht den Einsatz bei unterschiedlichsten Beschwerden. Auch für den Sportler, Breiten- wie Leistungssportler bietet die Akupunktur eine gute und effektive Behandlungsalternative. Da die Therapie nahezu nebenwirkungsfrei ist und jeder Dopingkontrolle standhalten kann, ist das Einsatzspektrum im Sport groß.

Typische hartnäckige und schmerzhafte Probleme beim Sportler stellen vor allem muskuläre Überlastungsbeschwerden im Schulter-Nacken-Bereich, Rücken, Gesäß-, Oberschenkel- und Unterschenkelmuskulatur sowie Sehnenansatzschmerzen im Bereich der Achillessehne oder beim Tennisellenbogen dar. Diese werden am besten durch eine Kombination aus Körper- und Triggerpunktakupunktur behandelt. Deren deutliche muskelentspannende Wirksamkeit ist mittels Elektromyographiemessung nachweisbar.

Die Akupunktur bietet sich ebenso bei akuten Schmerzsyndromen verschiedenster
Art an: beim akuten Hexenschuss, Schiefhals, Verstauchungen oder der Sehnenscheidenentzündung.

Des Weiteren ist die Behandlung bei Problemen im Kniegelenkbereich wie das Patellaspitzen-Syndrom, knorpelbedingte Schmerzen und nach vorderem Kreuzbandriss als effektive Therapieform anzuwenden. Zur Erhaltung einer Bewegungs- und Sportfähigkeit bei beginnenden Arthroseschmerzen kann die Akupunktur, in Kombination mit Physiotherapie und Muskelaufbautraining schmerztherapeutisch unterstützend wirken. Nicht zu vergessen ist die allgemein entspannende Wirkung der Behandlung, die vor allem in der Wettkampfphase zum Einsatz kommen kann.

Gerade der Sportler stellt hohe Anforderungen an seinen Körper und somit auch an eine möglichst nebenwirkungsfreie Therapie. Eine schnelle, effiziente und schmerzfreie Wiederaufnahme seiner Sportfähigkeit ist das zu erreichende Ziel. Die Akupunktur kann hierbei bei vielen sportbedingten Schmerzsyndromen erwiesenermaßen gut eingesetzt werden. Sie sollte daher allgemein therapeutischer Bestandteil sein und keine Fiktion.
