90 Jahre sportorthopädisches Urgestein: Dr. Wolf-Dieter Montag zum Geburtstag

Am 10. Dezember 2014 feiert Dr. Wolf-Dieter Montag, Facharzt für Orthopädie-Sportmedizin bei bester Gesundheit im oberbayrischen Voralpenland seinen 90. Geburtstag. Die GOTS gratuliert von Herzen!

Das Lebenswerk von Dr. Montag in Sport und Sportmedizin (Sportorthopädie!) zu erfassen und zu würdigen, ist in Anbetracht von Vielfalt und Intensität von vorneherein zum Scheitern verurteilt. Ich muss mich daher auf die allerwichtigsten Tätigkeitsfelder beschränken:

Als Gründungsmitglied der GOTS 1984  war Wolf-Dieter Montag zusammen mit uns damals zwölf „Unruhestiftern“ maßgeblich an der (auch organisierten) Schaffung einer sportorthopädisch-sporttraumatologischen Kompensation der bis dahin weitgehend internistisch geprägten Sportmedizin beteiligt.

In den „Wirrungen“ der Jahre nach Gründung der GOTS war Wolf-Dieter Montag immer ein ausgleichend ruhender Pol, der dabei aber stets die Ziele und Zielrichtung der GOTS (orthopädische Sporttraumatologie) als oberste Maxime hochgehalten hat und damit zur Konsolidierung unserer Gesellschaft entscheidend beigetragen hat.

Heute genießt Wolf-Dieter Montag aufgrund seiner Lebensleistung höchste Anerkennung in der Sportmedizin. Er ist uns allen in der GOTS ein Vorbild.
